I live in Ogembo, a small tribal village outside of Kisii. Our people are in lush valleys on the ancestral lands of their fathers.  I live in the orphan quarters on the land of Pastor Kibayu and his wife Rosaleen. We have just over an acre to sustain us. I carry water from our well, but times of draught has dried our well. I walk to the river and fill buckets of water to meet our needs. Usually I do this with my best friend Sara (above). We carry the containers balanced on our heads in the traditional way. There is much suffering in Kenya that comes from our water, like parasites and mosquitos that cause Malaria and Yellow Fever. I like to help with clinics when Pastor Dirk and the 2nd Chance teams brings nurses and doctors for us. I want to go to school. I have not gone to school at all this year. I sat for the exam because I am so hopeful to find a sponsor. I am only in position 8 out 18 students. I used to be at the top of my class. I will work so hard if I can return to school! I hope you would help my dream come true.

Hopefully,
Jane
